Anxiety tips

I think we all feel anxious to some degree. Some of us feel it everyday, some very rarely. Some feel it intensely, even feeling sick. Other feel it for a slight second, a nervous feeling. We all feel it at some points though, it’s a shared human experience. I suffer in the early mornings and sometimes late at night or when I wake up in the middle of the night. Ive been teaching myself how to deal with this anxiety and I’m no master but I have found some things that help me! And maybe since they help me, they can be of use to you!

  1. Get some sunshine and fresh air! going on a hike honestly helps me so much, not in the city but up a mountain or along a trail. The air is fresh and the sounds of nature soothing.

  2. MEDITATE! Honestly, even just for 3 minutes. Meditation is so important but it involved consistency. The more you practice, the easier it becomes and the more of a tool it can be.

  3. Sniff some lavender essential oil. lavender has calming elements. It helps with sleep, stress, and anxiety. Use it as essential oil in your skin, clothes, or bed sheets. You can also get lavender candels to light around the house.

  4. Drink non-caffeinated tea or ice cold water. AVOID COFFEE. sometimes I can be feeling fine and coffee can just mess it up. A nice soothing tea can make the tummy feel warm and happy!

  5. Cold water. This is a quick trick. Splash water on your wrists or temples to calm yourself down quickly.

  6. The 5 senses. I learned this one in therapy and it’s amazing. Find 5 things you can see, 4 you can hear, 3 you can touch, 2 you can smell/heat, 1 deep breath. If you have someone close to you that you feel comfortable with, have them take you through this.

  7. Therapy. To follow up on my last point- therapy can also be great. I don’t think it’s for everyone but it’s definitely worth trying.

  8. Practice being in the present and gratitude.
